Jefferson Traffic Calming Update

L.O. Daniel Neighbors,

As we’re nearing the end of the traffic study on Jefferson which is set to conclude around November 9th. We’re reaching out for your help to provide feedback to city hall on the success of the study as it begins to wind down.

If you’re able to, please reach out to Ryan Wagoner (ryan.wagoner@dallascityhall.com) as he is compiling feedback for the study OR Mayor Pro Tem Chad West (chad.west@dallascityhall.com) and copy Ryan Wagoner.

If you believe the demonstration had a positive effect by encouraging slower speeds, below are messages you can use to show your support to city hall:

·    Thanks to Chad and the City of Dallas for arranging the Road Diet Demonstration on Jefferson Boulevard which started back in August.

·    Based on my observations, the Road Diet is having the desired effect of calming traffic. Cars appear to be driving at slower, safer speeds.

·     By reducing the number of lanes from 6 to 4 it is much easier to safely cross Jefferson

·    I feel safer walking (or running, cycling, etc.) on Jefferson since the Road Diet demo began

·    I am looking forward to the results of the traffic study to confirm what I can see with my own eyes

·    I urge you to make this a permanent solution as soon as possible

·    All we are asking is for the city to extend the 2-lanes used in each direction in the commercial district (East of Polk) to the residential district (West of Polk)

Please let the city know how you feel about the demonstration (even if the feedback is critical) – it’s important that our next steps are well informed.

Thanks,

L.O. Daniel Neighborhood Association
